Covenant

Lord Jesus,

our Teacher and Saviour,

our Friend and our Companion on the way:

You have shown us what the Father requires of us and how we can please him.

We come to you today to covenant with you and with our fellow disciples

that we will seek to walk before you in ways known and ways still to be made known,

to watch over each other in love,

and to be light and salt in our community.

We will do this according to our best endeavours, as you assist us.

Renew within us the gift of your Holy Spirit;

Help us to walk in your ways,

so that the promises we make today

and the life that we live together

may continue to be an offering of love,

not a duty, but a delight.

And so today:

 We give ourselves to you;

          help us to live more closely in your presence.

 We give ourselves to each other;

          bind us together in love and service.

 And we give ourselves to our neighbours;

          help us in the way we live to show something of your character,

          and in the words we use to share the good news of your KINGDOM.

ALL TO YOUR PRAISE AND GLORY.  AMEN!
